Many sincere people tithe. They give ten percent of their income to a church, believing it’s a command and a way to honor God. When you “tithe your mind,” you feed the storehouse within you. You set aside the first and best thoughts of every day for what is true and beautiful and creative, and let the rest of your thinking run on the remainder. That is where the blessing lives. That is why the teaching promises overflowing storehouses — because a mind that feeds its inner truth is a mind that can never run empty. It is the practice that keeps you whole, that keeps the new mind of “born again” alive and strong.
Does it help us? Yes — when it’s inward
Money tithing, at its most charitable, supports a community that gives you teaching and belonging — which has its own value. But the tithing the scriptures point to, the one that actually transforms you, is the tithing of attention. The part of you that thinks quickly, always, is the real treasure — and giving ten percent of it to truth is the richest transaction a person can make.
It is not a fee you pay to a church so God will bless your finances. It is the everyday discipline of pointing your mind at what’s real, and it fills your storehouse, not someone else’s. That is a tithe you can keep. That is one that helps you — as much as it gives.
